Frequently Answered Questions
Why is Linden offering a formal tutoring program?
For more than 26 years, The Linden School has been a leader in girl-centred education. Community is at the heart of what we do: we know that people thrive when they are cared for, and seen for who they really are. Tutoring at Linden is ideal for students who need additional one-on-one support to improve their academic skills. Students sometimes need repetition with concepts, they may need the confidence boost that comes with working with a kind and patient instructor, or they may need instruction from a specialist teacher to fill gaps. The first step in the tutoring process is getting a clear understanding of a student's strengths and needs, which the tutor will use to set out a plan for instruction. Our tutors have a proven track record of connecting with kids, which empowers students to build the skills they need to feel confident and successful.
What subjects are covered?
We can cover a wide range of elementary and secondary subjects.
Who is this program for?
Linden students and friends of Linden community members are welcome to inquire. To avoid conflicts of interest, Linden students will not be matched with their current teachers. Students interested in getting extra help from their own teachers should attend extra help sessions set by individual teachers.
Who are the tutors?
Our tutors are OCT certified teachers who specialize in girl-centred learning and who understand the importance of warm, supportive instruction. When girls feel empowered to take risks, their skills and confidence skyrocket. Concepts will be taught using a variety of methods, including hands-on materials and real-world connections.
How much does it cost?
The program costs $75 per hour.
Where and when will tutoring take place?
Tutoring is available at Linden on Thursdays between 4:00–8:00 PM.
