Success on the Field!
Ultimate Team Spirit
On September 30, 2015, our senior students had an exciting Ultimate Frisbee Tournament with lots of action up & down the field! And of course — no surprise — we won the spirit competition! Linden Nation starts out strong!
SSAF U20 Ultimate Championships
On September 30, 2015, Linden athletes headed north to Aurora for the annual SSAF U20 Ultimate Co-Ed tournament at Sheppard's Bush. With 10 teams this year, it was an action-packed day on the fields. Linden played 4 matches against very skilled co-ed teams. Linden is the only all-girls team at the tournament and we quickly gained respect and admiration from our competitors, who noted our team's skilled passes, acrobatic catches, stealth-like strategies, and all out hustle on the field. After facing PACE, Town Centre, and PCA, Linden played their best match against Fieldstone losing by only 2 points, 7-5, after a grueling thirty minutes. We had a variety of veteran players putting points on the board for Linden and our team's leadership was outstanding. After the round robin, there was a spirit competition between the teams and as you might have guessed, Linden won, with their creative and enthusiastic Ultimate-lyric based cheer (see video above)! Thank you to all our hard working players, dedicated coaches and volunteer parent drivers.
Junior School Cross Country Achievements!
On September 30, 2015, the Junior School cross-country runners took to the trails as they competed at the RDS Withrow Cup. Twenty-eight Linden athletes toed the line in races that varied from 1.75km to 2.25km, each focusing on their own personal race goals. For some it was a day of firsts: first time being on a sports team, first time representing the spirit of Linden Nation, first time starting a race, first time chasing a racing goal. For others, it was a return to athletic pursuits or an opportunity to take on a leadership role with peers. It was heartwarming to see our team come together to support and celebrate each other, and start the year off with such amazing school spirit.
Congratulations to our courageous Linden runners! It was a successful day on all fronts with lots of physical and emotional risk taking, amazing support and teamwork, loud and proud school spirit, and some speedy results! At the end of the day, Linden came away with 2 division titles (U12 girls and U14 girls), 2 bronze medal performances, 8 top 10 individual finishes, but most importantly, lots of personal bests and personal growth performances displayed with big proud smiles on our athletes' faces. It made for a fun day of fresh air, physical activity, and friendship.
