Grade 8 Students Merge Environmental Consciousness with Creative Writing
The Grade 8 English class took on a culminating task for their Novel Study unit by crafting original short stories, inspired by the themes resonating in the dystopian novel, "The Marrow Thieves," penned by Indigenous author Cherie Dimaline. Students incorporated insights gained from their STEM For A Better World Fair projects, which centered around crucial issues concerning water and the environment, infusing their narratives with scientific understanding and consciousness of environmental issues impacting Indigenous people.
Students worked diligently to create captivating cover art for their stories, adding another layer of depth to their projects. Alongside English teacher, Eliza, they prepared to showcase their works and create an engaging display of literary and artistic expression.
