Confidence for the Teenage Years
Linden’s Middle School bridges the transition from childhood to adolescence with a program designed to build resilience, self-awareness, and academic confidence.
In Grades 7 and 8, students engage in personalized learning, hands-on inquiry, and leadership development—all within a community that affirms who they are and who they are becoming.
Students collaborate with Engineers-in-Residence to design functional structures and earn high school tech credits. In science, they conduct ecosystem studies in Yellow Creek, practicing environmental inquiry and stewardship through direct fieldwork. Mathematics becomes deeply relevant as it applies concepts to real-world challenges, like budgeting for shelter donations or planning sustainable housing projects.
Digital literacy is woven throughout the curriculum. Students learn to conduct ethical research, evaluate online sources, and navigate emerging technologies such as AI with critical awareness. These skills are foundational as they help students take on increasing academic independence.
Beyond the classroom, students strengthen life skills through meaningful responsibilities. They plan their field trips, manage budgets, and practice time management with guidance from supportive faculty. Leadership is embedded in daily life, from mentoring younger peers to organizing events and activities.
Arts education continues to thrive in Middle School, with students exploring visual storytelling and social justice through creative projects. Athletics are inclusive and spirited—every student participates on school teams through the Small Schools Athletic Federation, building physical confidence and joy in movement.
This is a time of rapid growth. Linden’s Middle School ensures students are supported through it, with challenge, care, and opportunities to lead.
