Curiosity, Confidence, & Community
At Linden’s Junior School, students are immersed in a joyful, supportive environment where curiosity is encouraged, empathy is modelled, and every child is valued and known.
From JK to Grade 6, our program integrates hands-on academics, social-emotional learning, and leadership opportunities that build foundational skills and a strong sense of self.
Literacy & Language |
---|
From early reading corners to literature circles and author visits, students develop strong literacy skills and a love of storytelling. Weekly assemblies and student-led presentations help them grow as confident communicators. |
Mathematics in Action |
Math comes to life through real-world projects, such as calculating taxes in a classroom store, budgeting for shelter donations, or analyzing water access data. Even our youngest learners participate in our STEM for a Better World Fair, asking meaningful questions and presenting their findings. |
Science & Technology |
Students learn by doing—measuring tree heights, testing bridge strength, or building prosthetics in our Maker Lab. JK–Grade 3 students explore invention through playful STEM challenges, while older students design working electric toys.
|
Outdoor Education |
Weekly visits to the Yellow Creek ravine connect students with nature in all seasons. From fire-building and winter walks to ecosystem studies, students build resilience, environmental awareness, and a lasting appreciation for the land.
|
French Immersion |
Beginning in Grade 1, students develop their French skills through songs, games, and role-playing activities. By the junior grades, they confidently use French in real-life scenarios, such as operating a school café in French. |
Arts, Drama & Music |
Students explore artistic expression across cultures and media—from Norval Morrisseau to Frida Kahlo. They create art exhibits, perform original plays, and showcase musical talent at professional venues.
|
Leadership & Civic Engagement |
Even our youngest students take the lead—organizing events like the Linden Women’s Day March or meeting with politicians to advocate for change. By the time students reach Grade 6, they are delivering graduation speeches that reflect their unique voice and values. |
Physical Education & Well-Being |
Every student participates in inclusive physical activities that foster confidence, body autonomy, and lifelong wellness. Health education encompasses topics such as friendships, media literacy, and body changes, presented with sensitivity and care. |
Social-Emotional Learning |
Through daily routines and intentional guidance, students develop emotional literacy, conflict resolution skills, and self-awareness. These are the building blocks of well-being and positive relationships that last a lifetime. |
