A Beautiful Fall Day to Help Our Neighbours
Linden students leading fall clean-up activities at the YWCA Woodlawn residence.
By the EcoTeam
On November 3rd during All-School activities, The Linden School went to the YWCA Woodlawn to rake leaves and help prepare their gardens and outdoor spaces for winter. The YWCA Woodlawn is a women’s shelter that provides both short-term emergency housing and long-term, subsidized housing to women in need.
The EcoTeam students helped organize the All-School event. They planned school Greetings announcements and modelled engaged behaviours while raking leaves.
We want to thank everyone who brought in rakes and gloves and raked leaves, bagged them up and carried the bags down to the street.
The students wanted to share some of their reflections after the All School:
“It was a nice day to be outside and we had a great time!” —Haley, Grade 7
“I think it was good that we got together as a community to help a great cause.” —Laura, Grade 8
“It was amazing to help out and it was really fun!”—Vienna, Grade 2
“I got to clean and help out the YWCA by cleaning their yard.” —Lilah, Grade 1
Congratulations to Eco Team members Haley, Tabitha, Maho and Callie in Grade 7, and Lilah, Zoey, Rory, Sophie, Andrea and Laura in Grade 8. Thanks to Céleste and Kelley for leading the team.
