Linden’s youngest athletes achieve personal bests at Track and Field Pod Meet
By Ellen Fowler, Linden teacher and coach
On May 24th, students in Grades 1-5 — and some dedicated grade 6 students — travelled to the University of Toronto to compete in Rosedale Day School’s annual Track and Field Pod Meet. The meet provides a safe and encouraging space for students to participate in a variety of Track and Field events. We were lucky to have a sunny day with a cooling breeze. Our athletes competed in Standing Long Jump, Running Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Ball Throw, Hurdles and a variety of sprinting events.
Linden athletes were determined and pushed themselves. We had many personal bests and left the day feeling very accomplished. A shout-out to Ziyal (Grade 1) who came 4th overall for 100m within her age group, and Anisa who wasn’t able to compete but came to support the team and help run events. Most importantly, these girls brought their Linden spirit and smiles.
These athletes truly embody Linden Nation and they cannot wait to compete in the meet next year.
