On Saturday, April 1, 2017, several Linden students including Isobel and Meredith, Grade 5, Chloe and Criona, Grade 6, Carly and Serena, Grade 7, Lia, Grade 9, and Rachel, Grade 10, attended the annual city-wide Science Fair, held at the Scarborough campus of the University of Toronto. The Fair encourages students to present scientific inquiries that begin with an intriguing question, problem, or idea that emerges from their daily life. All students agreed that it was a great experience to attend the city-wide event. Congratulations to Serena, who received a bronze medal in the Grade 7-8 Division.

"I felt very happy and privileged to go to the Metro Science Fair. I'm very proud of myself for participating. There were many knowledgeable people there, and it was a lot of fun. The best part was meeting with a geologist; I learned many things about Canada and the rocks found here. I would recommend this event to other girls. They should not be scared to pursue what they enjoy. It's a fun experience, and there's a lot to learn. For next year I plan to practice my presentation more and make more friends during the event!" shared Serena, Grade 7.

"I feel good about my participation because I'm proud that I was selected to attend this event. I would like to go again next year. I enjoyed listening to the speakers, especially the detective and the geologist. I would recommend this event to the other girls. Next year, I would not like to work with people as my subjects because that piece was very difficult," shared Carly, Grade 7.
