Onyka Gairey, who graduated from Linden in 2012, is one of six emerging Black writers selected to participate in the Nia Centre’s Black Pen Creative Writing Program. Facilitated by Whitney French, honorees will take part in a 4-month intensive writing program, which culminates in the creation of a published book to be distributed across Canada in 2022.

In addition to their writing accomplishments, Onyka holds a Masters in Global Health from the University of Western Ontario. They have stayed closely involved with Linden through serving on our Board of Trustees, speaking at Linden events, and helping to organize Linden's 25th birthday celebration.

We look forward to catching up with Onyka and sharing more when the book comes out.
