On Friday, February 2, students from the Early Learning class through to Grade 5 took the TTC down to Harbourfront Centre for a day of creativity and winter adventure.

We started the morning with a clay workshop led by Alex. She gave interesting examples of beasts and creatures from different types of architecture around the world and then coached our students through creating their own clay beasts. The girls learned the importance of scoring, wetting, pressing, and smoothing to help their creatures keep all their limbs and features. We ended up with a wonderful collection of everything from cats and giraffes to mermaids!

After a hearty lunch, we headed outdoors for the afternoon. The weather was blisteringly cold but students came prepared with all their winter gear and bravery. For many, this was one of the first times being on skates and with the encouragement and support of friends, teachers, and high school helpers, everyone was staying upright by the end of the day. The bright sunshine and hot chocolate at the end of the day didn't hurt either.

We are so proud of all the skaters who took risks, tried something new, and helped make the day a fun one for everyone!
