Position Overview:
The Linden School is seeking a passionate and dynamic Part-Time Art Teacher to join our
creative arts department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in visual arts and a
commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment. The Part-Time Art
Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing an engaging art curriculum that
encourages students to explore their creativity and express themselves through various artistic
mediums.
Responsibilities:
- Meet the Standards of Practice for the teaching profession in Ontario.
- Plan and implement a vibrant and progressive art education programme, with a wide-
ranging visual and digital art curriculum. - Develop and implement a comprehensive art curriculum for students.
- Support students in preparing an art portfolio package for university applications.
- Provide in-person instruction to support hybrid learning, with the flexibility to switch to
online instruction if/when requested. - Provide regular assessments to ensure students demonstrate proficiency for their grade
level. - Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
- Prepare report cards and conduct parent-teacher interviews.
- Develop program and classroom setup, including curriculum, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate art projects with other subjects and
school-wide initiatives. - Collaborate with Linden faculty and other educational institutions as part of program
development activities. - Work with the Admissions and Marketing team to support admission inquiries/recruitment.
- Create and maintain a warm and nurturing learning environment for all students in the
program. - Organize and coordinate art exhibitions, displays, and other events to showcase student
artwork. - Attend faculty and mentorship meetings as required.
- Stay current with developments in art education and incorporate new techniques and
materials into the curriculum. - Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring art studio space.
- Work with staff, supervisors, and board committee members to establish and implement
short- and long-range goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. - Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the school
community. - Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Relevant bachelor’s degree. A postgraduate degree in fine arts is considered an
asset. - Teaching certification in Ontario (OCT) is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in a school setting, preferably at the middle and high
school levels. - Experience educating or working with students of grades K to 12.
- Strong organizational, planning, communication, and critical thinking skills are
required to efficiently interact with students, parents, and staff. - Strong knowledge of various art techniques, materials, and processes.
- Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Experience with digital art or a willingness to learn.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Compensation and benefits:
- This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of renewal.
- Annual salary commensurate with work experience.
