Festival of Lights: A Triumph!
Watch/rewatch Festival of Lights here!
Linden’s first term wrapped up with Festival of Lights which was packed with creative talent that included music, theatre and cinematography.
Guests were captivated from the very start by Beth Alexander’s Land Acknowledgement that paid homage to our ravine. She drew parallels between our current interactions with the space and those of First Nations peoples, and pledged Linden’s continued commitment to reconciliation and justice.
Performances from new and experienced strings students were interspersed with whimsical student-written holiday-themed skits and theatrical renditions of Indigenous folk tales. Whether students had been playing their instruments for weeks or years, their skill, dedication and joy shone. Some classes filmed uplifting videos to accompany their performances.
Towards the end, an affectionate tribute to recently-retired math teacher and Linden icon Nasrin Matini included video messages from alumnae and archive photos — even a baby picture of Nasrin!
Congratulations to all performers, teachers, and behind-the-scenes contributors, especially music teacher Molly Tucci who rose to the challenge of leading yet another virtual event, and inspired so much creativity and excellence from Linden students.
