Rooftop Planters
What better way to spend a Friday at The Linden School than by celebrating our beautiful Earth for Earth Day? In the morning the junior school girls (JK–Grade 6) created planters for the roof using recycled containers. The Grade 6 students set up different planter-making stations for the younger students to move through, which helped facilitate the production line quite effectively. The girls are so excited to see their plants starting to grow when they are up on the roof at recess. This activity would not have been possible without the generous donations of soil, seeds, and extra containers from Linden families.
Earth Day Hike
In the afternoon, the Early Learners, Grades 1–2 and 4–5 went on a hike through the ravine. The younger girls enjoyed being the ravine experts, and they were enthusiastic about walking their hiking partners down all of their favourite paths. It was fun to squish our shoes in the mud, keep our eyes out for blooming flowers and buds on the trees, and breathe in fresh air on this beautiful afternoon. Spending time in the ravine helps all of us appreciate the incredible beauty of our Earth.
