The Linden School invites nominations and applications for the position of Principal. The school’s mission and values highlight academic excellence and intellectual risk, and the students, the faculty, the staff, and members of the Linden community – embody these goals and ideals through feminist, anti-oppressive, and anti-racist lens. The Principal of The Linden School will be a passionate educator who will lead and inspire a faculty and staff of twenty-five and a student community of approximately 125. The Principal is a hands-on leader dedicated to the School’s mission of feminist pedagogy and its values and strength of a girl-centred education.
Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the new Principal will be guided by the mission and values of The Linden School and will provide academic, administrative, and operational leadership of the School on all matters as they relate to its stakeholders including students, parents, faculty, staff, the Board of Trustees and other important community members. Decision-making at The Linden School is a highly collaborative and consultative process, and the Principal will invite input, listen actively and patiently, and will be attuned to the needs of others, especially the students, faculty, and staff.
The ideal candidate must derive joy from having an active and engaged presence in the school and community and will bring demonstrated innovative classroom and administrative leadership experience from within the public or independent school system. This experience will have been gained ideally in both elementary and high school levels. The Principal will possess leadership skills for supporting a growing school and will bring a high level of energy, empathy, contagious enthusiasm, authentic curiosity and is a life-learner. Alignment with The Linden School’s mission and culture will be of paramount importance. Imagination, a ready sense of humour, dedication, flexibility, open-mindedness, an open-door policy, and a collaborative approach will prove essential to join this unique school. The Principal will demonstrate significant experience engaging in an anti-oppression framework, including direct action in equity and social justice issues from feminist and anti-racist lens.
