Senior Team

Linden athletes were out in full force this May at the SSAF Track and Field championships. Our small but mighty senior team competed at the York University indoor facility on May 4th. It was a jam-packed day where each athlete competed in multiple field and running events in the attempt to set personal bests, score team points, and challenge themselves in new ways. At the end of the day, we had accomplished all of our goals and it showed with our tired muscles, big smiles, sore voices (from all the cheering), and multiple medals including two bronzes in the relays! When the team awards were announced over the loud speakers, it was all cheers for Linden's U20 team who defended their championship banner for the 3rd year in a row! With 10 other teams present this was no small feat! What an exciting day for Linden Nation!!!

Junior Team

Our large junior track and field team competed at their championship on May 13th at the Toronto Track and Field Centre. This meet is the biggest competition in the SSAF, boasting over 800 athletes competing from 32 different schools. There were lots of speedy times, superb jumping technique, patient pacing, phenomenal support for teammates, and of course, there was no shortage of cheering. In our team huddle at the end of the meet, we decided it was a 4++ day on the rubric ;). Some highlights included Serena's silver and bronze in the U11 400m and triple jump events, Sara's U14 win in the 1500m, Rachel's silver in standing long jump, and Jadzia's and Criona's 3rd place finish in the U10 1500m. We were so proud of the Linden spirit and supportive actions of our junior school athletes. In our last team huddle, the girls shared with each other what they were proud of, impressed with, and what they learned from the day. It was an awesome way to wrap up the track season.

A BIG THANK YOU to all of the parents who drove and stayed to cheer on our team all day long. We appreciate the support! Also, a big thank you to Edie and Sara who helped coach the Grade 5/6 athletes and Julia and Addy for supplying treats at the end of the meet!
