It is important that children begin to understand online literacy in an authentic manner that is indicative of today’s social media environment. Since the beginning of the school year, Grade 3 and 4 students have been writing their opinions and thoughts on their personal blogs. Each student's blog showcases her best work, ideas, and thoughts.

Edublog is a great and safe blogging environment used by classrooms and students all over the world. The teacher moderates all comments and posts, and we use pseudonyms to keep it safe. Check out our home page, and also have a look at the girls' individual blogs. If you see something you think is interesting, please leave a message.

The girls have had a series of lessons instructing them on the need for privacy, self-censorship, and Internet safety. They have also been instructed on the concept of digital etiquette when writing posts and commenting on other posts. But their blogs are more than just a writing platform. The girls have also been learning about the different content forms of multimedia. This has included icon-based programming and podcasting. Very soon they will be creating animations, which you will hear about in the coming weeks!
