Because The Linden School is a non-profit
organization that runs solely on tuition payments, contributing
to our Annual Giving Fund makes a substantial difference in
the daily life of a Linden girl - and the impact of your gift
will be felt beyond the classroom. Consider that a given middle-
or high-school class at Linden donates at least 200 hours
of community service a year outside of their individual service
hour requirements; when you donate to Linden, you are also
contributing to other non-profit organizations such as UNICEF,
Amnesty International,
Second Harvest,
and Sistering, just
to name a few.
In
the past few years, our students have also raised enough funds
to support the educational expenses and tuition of a Rwandan
girl, Sylvie, financed the building and outfitting of an entire
computer lab in Afghanistan and provided girls with uniforms
and school supplies in Lesotho, without which they would be
unable to attend school. By making a financial contribution
to Linden, your gift will not only benefit our students, but
also girls and women around the world.
The most important way in which
your gift will enhance the classroom experience is by enabling
us to purchase materials and offer experiences beyond what
tuition can cover, especially
in the areas of art, music, drama, classroom resources, science
and technology labs, athletics, our roof-top garden, co-curricular
activities, and much more. The Annual Giving Campaign also supports
our Bursary Fund, which allowed approximately 20% of Linden
students to receive financial aid this year. This fund enables
us to remain accessible to communities and families that may
not otherwise be able to send their daughters to Linden.
You can make a difference today by helping to fund these items on The Linden School's "wish list" for this year:
Canada: A Peoples History and Historica History Minutes DVD sets will help students examine political development around the world and engage interest in Canadian moments using media. $75.00
Digital Projectors in each class room will enable us to incorporate technology into our teaching. Mounting a projector on the ceiling in the gym will make all school activities more engaging. $250.00
Art Supplies including a guillotine for cutting paper, guash, watercolour paints and canvases will allow us to introduce new mediums and techniques to students. A collection of frames will create a gallery of student work. $500.00
Play equipment set for the roof will create a more interactive play area for the girls to form relationships in and reduce the amount of conflict. $1000.00
Rock Climbing wall across the gym would add a unique and diverse dimension to all Linden PE classes from grades 1-12 providing great strength development, risk taking behaviour and coordination. $2000.00
SmartBoard/Promethian interactive whiteboard system allows students and teachers to solve puzzles, demonstrate solutions and share ideas in a collaborative manner. It is designed to address the needs of all types of learners and stimulate classroom participation. $5000.00
Host Joanne Deak, Rachel Simmons, Dr. Leonard Sax or other specialists in girls' learning for faculty, student and parent workshops. Topics to be covered include: Girls learning, parenting practices for girls, developing strong and healthy relationships with our young women and daughters. $10,000.00
Designate The Linden School as a PLP (Powerful Learning Practice) Community. This innovative, international project provides professional development in the area of technology to a team of Linden educators using the most current research on best practices in technology and in collaboration with other schools around the world. The Linden School would be the first independent school in Canada with this designation and would further solidify our endeavour to integrate authentic technology projects within the school. $15,000.00
Seed Money to Build the Foundations for The Linden School's Social Justice Centre and Research Institute. $100,000+
