What is Linden's curriculum? What are the core subjects? What options and specialty courses are offered?

Linden is best known for its success in teaching math and science. Yet the school places equal emphasis on all areas, including the arts and humanities. The school offers every subject required for university admitance , including art, music, drama, French, Latin, Spanish, computer studies, and physical education.

At Linden, students can choose from a wide range of opportunities for creative expression. The school offers a first-rate art programme that integrates art history with studio projects, culminating in a gallery-style art show each spring. Each year Linden students present complex and entertaining interpretations of classic and modern drama, from Shakespeare to Joy Kogawa. The school's primary students can take advantage of a certified Orff educator , while one of Toronto's most experienced and best-loved strings teachers, Ian Guenther, leads strings and band classes. Linden's choir and band have brought home many awards from the annual Kiwanis Music Festival.

The school has ensured that its students have access to state-of-the-art computer equipment, software and programming instruction. Computer lab activities inlcude developing programming skills, designing personal websites and power point presentations, and in-depth discussions about the personal and social implications of the Internet. Linden students excel in operating the latest software and high-tech gadgetry, as demonstrated by the number of annual Science Fair projects that incorporate computer technology and robotics.

Linden boasts some of the best French teachers in the city. The school does not offer immersion, yet the quality of the instruction is so high that former French immersion students are challenged. Girls from an immersion programme typically demonstrate confidence in speaking, but find that Linden's enriched programme provides a strong foundation in grammar to support their oral skills. And in most cases, the school can bring non-immersion students up to speed with their peers from immersion programmes within two years.
